Changes to Google SketchUp Pro 6

The Google SketchUp Pro 6 installation on sites Vista systems has undergone modifications as follows. The existing installation that was deployed with the wrong serial number has been removed. Autolaunch of smax4pnp.exe disabled on Vista lab systems

The smax4pnp.exe program, a component of the SoundMax audio software, is configured to auto launch following logon on Sites Vista systems. The program is intended to detect connection of microphones, speakers, and headphones to the SoundMax audio hardware. On many systems, the smax4pnp.exe program crashes immediately after launch and generates an error message.

To suppress the crash and error message, auto launch of program has been suppressed by removal of a registry entry from the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run key. The removal of the entry is implemented via the ccs-'08-'09-Disable-Smax-autolaunch GPO. The GPO is scoped to affect all Vista lab systems that have the SoundMax Integrated Digital Audio hardware.

SPSS Add-Ons Modified on Virtual Sites Stats Systems

The SPSS installation on the Virtual Sites Stats (VSTATS) systems has been modified with the addition of the SPSS 16 Original Tables and SPSS 16 Custom Tables add-ons.

The TABLES add-ons are activated via a scheduled task which runs an activation script. The scheduled task and script are implemented via the ccs-'08-'09-VSTATS-SPSS-Addon-Module-TABLES Group Policy. This new GPO will activate Tables on currently deployed VSTATS Stats machines.

Also, changes were made to an existing GPO that installs previously requested add-ons on the VSTATS systems. The following changes were made to the ccs-'08-'09-VSTATS-SPSS-Addon-Modules:

1. Additional license codes were added to activate SPSS 16 Original Tables and SPSS 16 Custom Tables. (This will allow the ccs-'08-'09-VSTATS-SPSS-Addon-Modules GPO to activate all add-on modules for VSTATS systems loaded/reloaded after today).

2. The scheduled task which installs  which activates add-on modules was configured to run at system startup in addition to the previous schedule of 2:30 PM each day.

The ccs-'08-'09-VSTATS-SPSS-Addon-Modules GPO will activate all SPSS Add-ons including Tables for newly reloaded VSTATS systems. The new GPO, ccs-'08-'09-VSTATS-SPSS-Addon-Module-TABLES, will be deactivated in several days after the TABLES add-on has been activated existing VSTATS.

Changes to Medical School Neurologic Courseware

The Medical School courseware application Neurologic which was previously deployed to the LRC as a Windows Installer MSI installation is now being deployed via SoftGrid. This change was required to fix a problem where the Neurologic 1 application would not launch on the Sites Vista loadset. Because the software is now deployed via SoftGrid, the application is available on all Sites Vista lab systems.

The program group and shortcuts for the MSI-based Neurologic installation have been deleted via a Group Policy Folder Preference in the ccs-’08-’09-Remove-Neurologic-Program-Group GPO. Also, the link for the ccs-'08-'09-Neurologic-software GPO, which was used for the MSI-based Neurologic installation has been disabled.

Firefox URL fixes deployed

I have corrected the URL for Wolverine Access in the default Firefox
profile. While doing this, I found some other URL errors and corrected
them. I made the changes in both the default profile for the general
sites, and also the custom profile for LRC. There were no changes to the
LRC specific links, only to general UM links included in both profiles.

I am pushing out the changed file using GPO Preferences, so it will go
into the local Mozilla default profile on each machine on the next
refresh of the machine's group policies. The only users who will not see
the changes will be those who already have an existing Mozilla profile
on the machine they are on.
